פצי
פְּצֵי, פְּצָא(b. h. פָּצָה) (to split) 1) to open (the mouth). Targ. Job 35:6 (Ms. פָּאצֵי). 2) (cmp. פָּדָה a. פָּדַע) to rescue, save. Ib. 36:16 פְּצָאִינָךְ (h. text הסיתך). Targ. Ps. 22:9; a. fr. 3) (cmp. פָּצַע) to branch off. Ab. Zar.17a חד פָּצֵי לע״זוכ׳ Ms. M. (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note) one road branched off towards an idolatrous temple, and another to a house of prostitution. 4) to pass between. Pes.111a ואי פ׳ Ar. (Ms. O. 2 פַּצְיָא; Ms. O. 2 אִיפְּסַע ed. ממצעין) and if one (she) passes. Pa. פַּצֵּי, Af. אַפְצֵי to deliver, save. Targ. Ps. 70:2. Targ. Prov. 14:25 (ed. Wil. Af.).B. Bath.45a דינא הוא דמְפַצֵּי ליה מיניה (or דמַפְצֵי) the law is that he (who sold the ass) must rescue it from him (the gentile that took it by force; i. e. must restore the ass to the buyer or indemnify him). Keth.91b לא מְפַצִּינָא לך (or מַפְצִינָא) I shall not be bound to restore it to thee. Ib. 92a; a. e. Ithpe. אִתְפְּצֵי to be delivered. Targ. Prov. 2:12; 16.
